The reality of reform will mean more benefits for small businesses. This will level the playing field by allowing them to remain competitive in providing benefits to hire and retain talented employees.
Small businesses can benefit through tax credits offered through the health care system. And through the Exchange, a new marketplace in which insurers must play by new rules to ensure consumers receive quality coverage, small businesses will be able to shop for coverage that is comprehensive and affordable. Exchanges will make premiums more reasonable and predictable for small businesses, which are currently left to fend for themselves in an open market with few protections.
Small businesses (less than 50 employees) will be exempt from fees imposed on employers who do not provide insurance to their employees.
